I'm really into Rosé these days, so when I was in San Francisco for work last month I took advantage of the fact that my hotel was right next to Rouge & Blanc on Grant Street and stopped in to taste something new. That something new is the Château Calabre Rosé, which is a lovely wine with a rich reddish, pink color; a bit darker than your typical Rosé.
I know when some of you think of Rosé you think - ick! My guess is that is because you are thinking of what we Californians call White Zinfindel, which is truly ick! However, I absolutely love good Rosé! My mind was changed on a business trip to Paris years ago when a client ordered a very nice bottle of Rosé and I was shocked at how good it was. Ever since I've been a huge fan.
If you are a red drinker this is a good summer wine, however it works all year around. It pairs well with seafood, chicken, pork - really just about anything!
